QuietCool Advanced Whole House Fans

How the Whole House Fan Works

The whole house fan pulls air in from open windows and exhausts it through the attic and roof vents. It provides good attic ventilation in addition to whole house cooling. Since it is normally cooler in the evenings, this would be the best time to turn on the whole house fan. Homeowners simply open a few windows and the whole house fan will cool and ventilate the entire house. When sized properly whole house fans can exchange the entire air in the home every 3-4 min.

Using your Whole House Fan

Whole house fans are primarily used in the spring, summer, and fall. Instead of using your A/C in the evening and early morning hours, when outside temperatures are cooler, open a few windows and bring the fresh cool air inside. When operating the system, owners open only a few selected windows, 4-6 inches each. Open windows far enough away from the fans intake in the room that is being cooled in order to feel the breeze. This way, the air will be drawn across the room cooling it entirely

Cooling your attic while it's cooling your house

When QuietCool whole house fans are turned on, the fans will pull the cooler outdoor air into your home, through your windows, across your living space, into the attic, and out the attic vents replacing the hot stale air. This helps cool the home and attic by up to 30 degrees, and sometimes more, allowing the home and attic to stay much cooler the following day. Exhausting the hot air inside your attic will allow your home to stay cooler throughout the day

Thermal mass cooling

When you come home after work and it’s really hot inside, but the outside has nicely cooled down, instead of turning on your A/C, open a few windows and start your system. This allows a cross breeze to enter your home, which not only feels good, but also cools the home down. Within a day or two of installing their system, homeowners are amazed when they come home after work… it was 90–100 + degrees outside, and they walk into a home that is… NOT 90 degrees, but maybe 72, 74 or 76 degrees

Centrally System

The central system is a single whole house fan system, installed in a central location in the home.  A single system would typically be installed in the middle of a single story home, or at the top of the stairs in a two-story home (usually somewhere in the hallway).  A centrally located QuietCool system will effectively and efficiently ventilate an entire home, but does not offer the homeowner the luxury of running specific fans in specific areas.

Zoned System

A zoned system include one fan centrally located, but also have other whole house fans conveniently located. Multi-fan zoned systems give the user maximum control over their ventilation and cooling needs. To size a zoned system, the combined CFM of all fans need to add up to the total CFM requirements.
